A monolithic undertaking for Alcoa.
After Alcoa Forging and Extrusions had one-upped the world of aircraft design with its one-piece wing box forgings for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the company turned to M&K to get the word out. Our solution? A brochure with a similar big approach: a fold-out F-35 poster, which proved far more impactful than a press release.
| Cover: Striking graphics mirrored the advanced technology used to create the forgings by establishing a look that was both contemporary and “tech-y.” |
| First spread: The opening spread recounted the history of the project and provided an overview of Alcoa's unprecedented accomplishments with the wing-box forgings. |
| Second spread: The second spread supported Alcoa's collaborative and risk-managed approach to the forgings, opening to reveal the larger F-35 poster. |
| Poster: The oversized poster pictured each of the 15 forgings completed for the three F-35 variants, as well as a cutaway showing the location of the forgings inside the aircraft. |
| Third spread: The final spread detailed critical technology developments in alloys, dies and processes that allowed Alcoa to create the forgings, as well as the company's $100 million plant investment. |
